Meet the art and the artist
Hi! I’m Maria, a self-taught artist creating handcrafted wooden pixel mosaics.
I began my artistic journey in September 2024, simply out of a passion for art and a need to create something meaningful with my hands. What started almost instinctively has gradually become something much bigger — my work has been selected and recognized in art competitions, confirming to me that this path is worth pursuing.
At the heart of my work is also a generational connection. I create my pieces together with my father in his carpentry workshop — the same place where I spent much of my childhood surrounded by wood, tools, and the process of making things by hand.
Today, we combine his craftsmanship with my artistic vision. Each artwork is built piece by piece from hundreds of individually prepared wooden “pixels,” creating a meeting point between traditional woodworking and contemporary art.
For me, our art is not only about the finished image. It is about two generations creating together, transforming wood into something that carries emotion, memory, and a human touch.
THE TECHNIQUE
Each mosaic is made from small wooden blocks, individually cut, sanded, painted, arranged, and glued by hand.
We primarily use spruce wood, combined with high-quality acrylic paints or wood stains to achieve the desired depth, texture, and color. Every piece is assembled manually, with close attention to composition, tone, and detail.
Each artwork is finished with a custom frame designed to complement the piece. The frame can also be adapted in color, material, or structure to suit the collector’s space.
